What is the Melanage™ Skin Lightening System?
Do you have uneven skin tone, deep pigmentation issues or melasma? The Melanage™ Skin Lightening System is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin which involves a medicated masque and an at-home regimen.
How does it work?
Melanage™ 1 Masque is applied during an office visit where it is compounded freshly by the medical aesthetician
to ensure its potency and reliability. The masque is removed by the patient after a required length of time depending on their skin type. Patients leave the office with this masque on their face. Patients are responsible for adhering to an easy-to-follow, but strict, at-home regimen involving the application of several Melanage™ products following masque removal.
What results can I expect?
Results will vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. Dark spots will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve. Although most patients experience peeling of their skin, not every patient will notice this. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the Melanage™ Skin Lightening System, such as: stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminished fine lines and pigmentation. Care a Year-Round Priority
Skin care starts with, most importantly, protection from the sun’s rays. It is of utmost importance to wear sunscreen daily, even through the winter months. A sunscreen with a minimum of 30 to 65 SPF sunblock would be the choice. There have even been findings that prove sun exposure occurs while driving, with more skin cancers occurring on the left side of one’s face. As we go through our 20s and 30s, the body’s production of collagen, which is a support structure of the skin, starts to slow down. Stimuli such as sun exposure, tobacco and stress will play a role in your skin’s appearance. Premature aging, loss of skin elasticity and wrinkling all are factors that can make us appear older than our true age. Microdermabrasion, a mechanical peel, will rejuvenate the skin by exfoliating the top layer of skin, which, when we are younger, naturally occurred more often than it does with more birthdays.
Microdermabrasion, also known as a “crystal peel” or a “power peel”, will cleanse out the pores and remove dead skin, which will stimulate the growth of new collagen. There is no downtime, and this is considered a “lunchtime procedure.” Skin care products also benefit used alone or in conjunction with a microdermabrasion, it will help with restoring color, hyperpigmentation (uneven skin color), age spots, and the overall care of our skin. CLEANSERS
Multi HA Foaming Cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid to thoroughly break down surface oil, makeup and debris. For oily and acne-prone skin.
LactiCleanse Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser is a mild foaming cleanser suitable for normal to oily and combination skin.
LactiCleanse Moisture Replenishing Cleanser is a soap-free, creamy cleanser for normal to dry and delicate skin.
SPECIALIZED TREATMENTS
CEGA 30 provides exfoliating, firming and protective benefits with a potent combination of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and salicylic acid. The compound is clinically demonstrated to brighten the complexion, increase collagen and provide antioxidant protection. Available as a cream or serum, CEGA 30 also contains green tea extract and a special peptide, which works as a Botox enhancer.
CEGA Eye Area provides the same benefits as CEGA 30 but is designed to address the special needs of the eye area.
C-mollient contains a Vitamin C compound with skin brightening and collagen stimulating properties. Vitamin E and green tea extract provide antioxidant activity and reduce skin irritation.
Kojilac-CHQ Pads effectively treat dark spots and hyper-pigmentation. The performance of this product is enhanced when applied after a microdermabrasion or peel treatment.
Moisture Repair hydrates and protects the skin’s moisture barrier without feeling greasy. Available as a light lotion for normal to oily skin, and as a cream for dry or mature skin.
Multi HA DAILY Pads contain a combination of alpha and beta hydroxy acids to exfoliate and clarify normal to oily and acne-prone skin on a daily basis.
Multi HA WEEKLY Pads are for weekly use and contain more potent hydroxy acids to produce superficial effects similar to a peel.
Prevage MD is one of the most effective antioxidants in the skin care industry. Prevage MD differs from its retail counterpart as it contains twice the active ingredient, Idebenone, at 1%. This luxurious formulation combats both past and future aging concerns while providing a radiant glow to the skin. *Please note that first time users of Prevage must complete a three day patch test prior to daily use.
Retinol is a source of Vitamin A that transforms older skin cells into younger-looking cells by properly aligning them. Retinol is the weaker cousin of prescription drugs such as Renova, Retin-A and Avage and is the gold standard in skin rejuvenation and acne treatment. For those who have previously experienced dryness from retinal products, The Neigel Center offers a moisturizing gel available in three strengths: 20, 50 and 100.
